âSlavery and Abolitionism on Cape Codâ with author, Dr. Michael Pregot Join us as we welcome local history author, Dr. Michael Pregot for a reading, talk and book signing!  Dr. Pregot will discuss details about his newest book âSlavery and Abolitionism on Cape Codâ.  He will discuss the religious views, political platforms, economic factors, and social movements that existed during the pre-Civil War period and will share many local stories. Come learn about a relatively unknown part of Cape Cod history! Registration is required. Copies of Dr. Pregot's book will be available for purchase during the event. Cash or check only. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Sandwich Town Archives (FOSTA). ABOUT THE BOOK: Dr. Pregot was able to document a large number of Cape families who were at one time slave owners, yet also discovered many who became staunch abolitionists. The Cape was one of the major centers for the anti-slavery movement led by William Lloyd Garrison, a summer resident of Wianno (Osterville). Dr. Pregot will present a one hour slide show that follows the book narrative, followed by a question and answer session. Copies of his books will be available for purchase during the event. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Dr. Michael Pregot is an educator, writer, and admirer of local history. As a Cape Cod resident, he loves researching the stories of historic maritime figures to share familiar and yet untold vignettes of their deeds with others. He has served as a secondary school administrator and as a P-12 school superintendent. During his tenure as a practicing school leader, he has taught adjunct educational leadership courses at Boston College, Keene State, Franklin Pierce, Fitchburg State and Worcester State College. Prior to his appointment to the faculty at Long Island Universityâs Brooklyn Campus, he taught educational leadership courses at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y.  His latest interest is in maritime history for which he has written Sea Captains of Cape Cod and Meet the Captains of the Captains Golf Course. His goal is to keep an audience drawn to and focused on vivid stories of the sea. Menopause is rarely discussed openly, yet it affects every woman differently. Experience The M Factor, the acclaimed PBS documentary (56 mins) that explores the science, stories, and shifting conversations around menopause.
